Air National Guard 113th Wing auditorium, Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, Dec. 10th, 2021. The 53rd, a historic unit with roots in World War Two, was reactivated as a partner unit to the 113th as part of the U.S. Air Force Total Force Initiative, which pairs active duty personnel with National Guard counterparts for training and operations.
