Chief Master Sergeant David B. Callaghan Sr is the Command Chief of the 113th Wing, District of Columbia Air National Guard, Joint Base Andrews, Maryland. He is the Senior Enlisted Leader of the Wing, and the principal advisor to the Commander on all matters influencing the health, morale, and welfare of the enlisted force of the wing.

Chief Callaghan enlisted in the Air Force in June of 1993 and was assigned to F. E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne Wyoming as an Information Management Specialist. While on Active Duty Chief Callaghan was assigned to the 37th Rescue Flight as an Information Management Specialist, the 90th Operations Support Squadron as a Computer Systems Security Officer, and to the 90th Security Police Squadron as an Air Base Defense Team augmentee. Chief Callaghan transferred to the Air National Guard in 1996. As a Guardsman in the District of Columbia he has served in the 231st Combat Communications Squadron, the 121st Fighter Squadron, the 113th Operations Support Squadron, and the 113th Operations Group as an Aviation Resource Management Craftsman, Flight Scheduler, Airfield Manager, Flight Services Manager, and Group Superintendent.

His most recent assignment was as the Enlisted Advisor to the Air National Guard Director’s Action Group, Office of the Director, Pentagon, where he provided enlisted perspective on all strategic communications and ANG programs to internal and external organizations, and prepared strategic messaging and engagement support for the Director, Deputy Director, Executive Director, and Command Chief of the Air National Guard.

Chief Callaghan has participated in numerous large scale flying training exercises including Air Warrior and Red Flag at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada; and Cope Thunder at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. He has deployed oversees on five different occasions in support of Operation Northern Watch, Coronet Nighthawk, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation New Dawn. He has served as Secretary, Vice President, and President of the DCANG Chiefs’ Council.
