Joint ambulatory aviation community flies post-hurricanes
113th Wing D.C. Air National Guard
Oct. 11, 2017 | 2:40
Following Hurricanes Irma and Maria in the Caribbean, a joint aviation community of National Guard and military-affiliated civilians teamed up to support urgent and medical supply transport missions in the Virgin Islands. A role that combined aerial power, ambulatory capabilities, dispatch and communication.
Bohlke International Airways, kept intransient military aircraft fueled and logistically ready, while members of the Vermont, Tennessee and Missouri National Guards keep medical evacuations and passenger movements steady. The Joint Operation Center (JOC) within the Virgin Islands National Guard Headquarters serves as dispatch and authorization for all evacuations.
